Questions About Books & Reading #4 | Bookmas Day Seventeen

39. What distracts you easily when you're reading?
Pretty much any noise, especially if the TV is on.

40. Favourite film adaptation of a novel?
I think they got The Perks of Being a Wallflower very right.

41. Most disappointing film adaptation?
Oh gosh, I'm not sure. I don't think I've seen many where I've also read the book.

42. The most money you've ever spent in a bookstore at one time?
Probably not very much, I usually buy a couple of books at a time but I don't think I've ever purchased a lot at once.

43. How often do you skim a book before buying it?
Mostly never.

44. What would cause you to stop reading a book half way through?
Only if I really disliked the story, I do like to finish novels if I can or at least skim the ending.

45. Do you like to keep your books organised?
I like to have them all on shelves, but they're not in any particular order.

46. Do you prefer to keep books or give them away once you've read them?
It depends. If it provoked a strong reaction, whether I loved or loathed it, I do like to keep hold of them. But if I don't have a strong opinion either way and am unlikely to want to pick it up again I'll donate them to a charity shop.

47. Are there any books you've been avoiding?
I put off The Luminaries for the longest time because it was so huge and it was incredible, so I've definitely learned not to avoid books for that reason.

48. Name a book that made you angry.
The Shock Doctrine. But not at the book. At the world in general!

49. A book you didn't expect to like but did?
Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier.

50. A book you expected to like but didn't?
Orlando by Virginia Woolf. I will read more Woolf but I'm not as convinced as I once was that her work is for me.

51. Favourite guilt-free pleasure reading?
Never feel guilty about reading any book, that's my motto!

  1. I so agree with the last answer! I think if you enjoy something then don't feel guilty about it (unless it's something bad, like stealing haha!) x
